Keegan's Latest

Here is one of the more current pictures of Keegan, she still has the feeding tube, but she is now up to bottle feeding whenever it looks like she is wanting too. She has been increasing the amount of milk she is able to take through the bottle, which is the last hurdle before she will be allowed to come home. She is up to 4 pounds 5.7 ounces, which is about 1 pound more then her birth weight. Hopefully she keeps up the weight gain, maybe hit 5 pounds before she comes home.

Keegan Comes Early!

After some signs Julie wasn't doing too great and a quick trip to our favorite breakfast place, Keegan arrived via emergency c-section 9 weeks earlier then planned. She weighed in at around 3 pounds 5 ounces, required oxygen through a CPAP, which delivers pressure to dry out the lungs.

Julie had some spotting earlier in the morning, after the on call nurse told her just to take it easy, we went for a leisurely trip to the AZ Bread Company for a power breakfast. After returning home, Julie had the same issue she had earlier, after the prompting of her sister to just go into the hospital, we headed to Banner Desert Hospital.

Julie didn't want me to drop her off, so I drove around the parking lot for 5 minutes looking for a spot, she finally let me drop her off. I found a spot shortly after that, and when I arrived, she was on a bed in an observation room. Five minutes later a nurse is hooking up the monitors for the heart beat and contractions, and all appears fine.

I'm playing my Nintendo, and Julie is just hanging out, when she asks me, "Does the heart beat sound slower now?" I told her I didn't know, and should I call a nurse, that is when the poo hit the fan. We hear some loud beeping out at the nurses station, there is cursing, questions about who Julie is, and our original nurse appears to have stepped out for a second.

Julie is rolled over on her side and is looking at me and starts to cry, she is wheeled off to the OR, I'm left holding our belongings and waiting in the hall way. In approximately 15 minutes, I'm walking with my daughter up to the NICU while Julie is being closed up.
